A random act of kindness.

Dear diary,

today, Sung and i went to Pyramid to buy a gadget for a special someone as a surprise gift. Halfway walking, i had to pee (i don't know why but i have been going to the toilet quite frequently lately. maybe it's due to the rainy weather. hmm). When i came out of the toilet, i saw Sung talking to an elderly woman. She was waiting for her husband, who was in the toilet.

She told us that she and her husband are here to attend a meeting at the Sunway Convention Centre, but they don't know how to get there because they stay in PJ and they don't come to Sunway Pyramid often. So we offered to show them the way there by walking them there.

Though it was just a few minutes' walk, it was nice - really nice.

The uncle, whose name is Yoon, told me he woke up at 6am to take the LRT to Kelana Jaya then from there both he and his wife, Claire, took a bus from Kelana Jaya to Sunway Pyramid. I was so impressed. Who says adventure is only for young people? It's sad to know that sometimes elderly people are more adventurous than us 'young people'.

The uncle was so cute.

He told me "old people don't need much sleep". He told me he slept at 330am last night because he was watching TV. I asked him what show did he watch, and he replied - "I watched news, and also a DVD on war photos. I like to look at war photos. It's my passion."

(Just like how i stay up till 330am to look at Pinterest/Tumblr photos. It's my passion too.)
*yaomingface*

And the most shocking thing, which i found out from Sung after they'd left is that Uncle Yoon used to be a lecturer in UM! He found this out from his wife. What are the odds, right? :)

I wouldn't say we did a "great" deed. But a little kindness goes a long way. They've blessed us more than we did. Seeing the smile on their face when they reached the Convention Centre is just priceless. The aunty kept thanking us. I can't imagine both of them wandering around the huge mall looking for the Convention Centre. It can be really tiring and confusing.

I pray that they'll arrive home safe and happy tonight.

I'm documenting this because it gave me a sense of joy that no milo could ever give to me.

The G-challenge.

If you follow me on Twitter, you would have already known by now that i'm a Pitch Perfect addict.

I feel in love with this movie the first time i watched it - which about a month ago. And so far, i've watch the full movie 7 times. Call me maybe crazy, but there's nothing i can do about this Fat Amy addiction. The only cure is to watch it over and over again (and to memorize the script, and also to Tumblr all the Fat Amy gifs). I'm sure many of you acca-girls and acca-boys know what i'm talking about.

In my personal opinion, Pitch Perfect is the 2nd most quotable movie after Mean Girls.

These two are the only movies that i can watch over and over again, and still find the same old scenes funny. Hollywood, please produce more Mean-Perfect-Pitch-Girls kind of movie. WE NEED THEM.

In Pitch Perfect, there was a particular scene which i really liked and it's the scene where Becca (played by Anne Kendrick) auditions to be a part of the Bardon Bellas.

This scene:

I love how she used the cup as her only music. I love how raw the whole performance is, though it's a really short one. And of course, i love her voice. Everything was just acca-perfect.

This is her LIVE performance on David Letterman's show:

This LIVE performance is twice her Pitch Perfect speed! Acca-mazing.

I'm so inspired that i decided to challenge myself to do this. I give myself a few days (maybe 3....or 4) to master this cup art. I've done my homework on YouTube, researching on how cover singers do it, and also by watching tutorials.

Tutorial:

Give me a few days, guys. I believe with perseverance and determination and persistence and independence (whut?), i can do it.

"When was the last time you did something for the first time?"

G-challenge:

Haagen-Dazs launches a new flavor!

How do you look like when you're hungry or when you're craving for a certain food?

I don't know about you, but i look like this:

Before

Bunny shirt, bunny owner/wearer/ootd-er.

After

The best thing that can happen to anybody on a hot Tuesday afternoon is to indulge oneself with a freezing-but-melting-in-your-mouth ice-cream.The highlight of my 9th April Tuesday was this:
The Haagen-Dazs Caramel Master Class
*angels singing*

The Haagen-Dazs new salted caramel flavor takes centre stage in exclusive caramel master class where 5 (super) lucky participants, chosen from the Haagen-Dazs Facebook Caramel Master Class Application, are paired up with different celebrities to create their very own ice-cream dessert inspired by Haagen-Dazs' new flavor -

Salted Caramel

To be honest, i'm not a fan of caramel. Eating caramel popcorn in the cinema is probably the only time i eat caramel with a willing heart. On other days, i'd be like:

"Ewww...somebody gimme chocolate now..."

But not this time.

I ordered their new Salted Caramel flavored ice-cream, and topped it up with chocolate syrup and rainbow sprinkles. We could order anything off the menu and add however many add-ons we like. WE THE (FAT) KINGS! (and queens)

I ordered. I waited. It came. I saw. I took picture. I see picture nice. I happy. I ate.

and

it

tasted

so

oo

oo

goooooood

After my first bite i was like:
"THANK YOU, HAAGEN-DAZS FOR MAKING MY LIFE COMPLETE."

Go and try it out for yourself and you'll know what i mean.

I attended the event with my sis Careen - my best event companion :)

--

And the competition begins!

Each participant + their celebrity partner was given 10 minutes to prepare and present their indulgent Salted Caramel creation to the renowned panel of judges consisting of Mr. Narubodee from Haagen-Dazs and a few other renowned Editors.

The 5 celebrities are (from left): Peter Davis, Celina Khor, Jojo Struys, Xandria Ooi and Joey G.
Now you know why i said the participants are SUPER LUCKY! ;)

I didn't know an ice-cream making competition could actually be so intense!

All types of flavor, ingredients, syrups, add-ons...etc. were given to the participants. It can be pretty hard to choose which one is the best especially when they all taste so good!

The judges anticipating to try the teams' creation.

Judgement time. Hehe.

10 minutes' up, and it's time for the teams to showcase their very unique creation to the judges.

Joey G promoting his "dragon" concept ice-cream creation. Pretty creative!

Jojo Struy's team :)

Here are some of the creations. I only managed to snap two :(

The Master Class Chef award goes to...

Team Celina Khor! :) *claps*

The winner walks away with a luxurious 4 days 3 nights to Koh Samui worth RM10,000!!

I know what you're thinking right now:

Writing again...

As i was packing for Penang last night, i came across this very familiar looking book - my 2011 diary. I flipped it open and began reading a few entries. As i read, i giggled more and more mostly because i can't believe how naive i was to actually record down all my inmost thoughts and feeling, thinking that nobody would read them. But as i read on, it suddenly dawned upon me on how precious those written words are.

I stopped writing my diary in May 2011, and i have no idea why. I didn't write a single entry in 2012, and i have no idea why either. As i tried to recall on all the things which happened last year, i couldn't. Alright, maybe just a few major events here and there - but they're only a hand full. What happened in between? What happened to all those short precious moments? My down times or happy times? Honestly, my memory of those moments are very vague and it's sad to say this but it will only become more vague as i grow older and my memory capacity begins to shrink. Time is passing us by so ridiculously fast these days. If you were to ask me what happened 3 days ago, i'd need a good 10 minutes to recall. There are so many things/events happening around us each day, but which of them are really worth remembering? And if they are, what do you do to document the moment?

Nowadays we post up photos on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook - and we share our moments there with our friends and family members (be careful who you approve. ahem. hashtag just saying), and that's about it. It ends there. Twitter limits us with only 140 characters, and let's face it - nobody really likes reading a 5 paragraphs caption about a photo. We just like to view, like/double tap, and scroll down to the next interesting photo. So what option do we have left? We summarize. We shorten our feelings and thoughts into just a couple of sentences and (many) hashtags.

So instead of writing about how we feel and what we feel, we summarize it to:

"Great day." #priceless #moment #wish #i #could #have #this #day #forever #instadaily #instahub #potd #bestoftheday #instamood #whatever #that #people #usually #hashtag #you #get #my #point

Not that there's anything wrong with that. I do that too. And i also understand that there's the issue of privacy - where we would rather keep our most honest thoughts and feelings to ourselves rather than having them showcased to our 3k+ friends on Facebook who couldn't care less. But what i'm really trying to say is that we tend to forget to document precious moments or feelings in our lives (both happy & down times) just because we don't post them up on our social networking sites.

Yesterday i did something sisterly wrong. I broke the sisterhood code. Yes, i read my sister Melody's diary. And i broke yet another sisterhood code by posting this up. Promise you won't tell her i read her diary and shared her 6th of February 2013 post to the whole world ok? *sisterly love still intact*

When i read this, my heart melted and i just couldn't stop smiling. There's just so much love and pure innocence overflowing from those written words. She loves her sisters too much to tell them off. That's why she would rather play dumb and pretend as if she's surprised, when she's actually not. I can imagine her reading this entry again in 10 years' time and she would realize how beautiful her childhood and her relationship with Charity and Evangeline were. If she were to only 'feel' and 'think' those thoughts without writing them down, chances are we or even she herself wouldn't get a chance to relive the moment again.

We are human beings, and human beings forget. We forget ALL. THE. TIME. - or at least for me. I've already missed out on a year's precious memories, and i can't afford to miss another one. Last night, i wrote my first entry for 2013 and i felt so happy and fulfilled.

If you don't have a diary, i encourage you to buy a nice notebook and start to pen down your everyday (daily/weekly) life. Write about your happiness, sadness, disappointments, anxiousness, hopefulness, your dreams...etc. Or just anything at all. It's easier to be grateful when you count your blessings & hardships.

So, will you write an entry today? :)

Come let us chat on - WeChat!

Last Tuesday, i attended the WeChat Party 2013 at the Neverland Club @ KL together with my sis Careen. It was also a night where they introduced their official Malaysian ambassadors to all of us.

Lisa Surihani & Shaheizy Sam!

Before this, i have heard of this WeChat app before but never really knew what it is about or how it actually functions. But after that night, the first thing i did when i reached home was the download the app and OMG this app is too cute to be true. They have so many special functions which Whatsapp doesn't have. One of my all-time favorites is their walkie talkie 'Hold to Talk' function.

Click play to watch the official WeChat 'Hold to Talk' commercial!

Ever since i was a child, i've always wanted to be like one of those TVB cops who say: "Hi, Wong Sir. Ngor receive jor lei ger message. Over." / "Li dou thai ngai him la. Mmm hou lei li dou. Over." / "Ok, alpha bravo charlie delta seal kiss from a rose. Roger that."

But i never really had the chance to unleash my fullest cop potential....UNTIL NOW. All you need to do is to hold the speaker button, and TALK. Once you're done, just release the button and your voice note will be sent immediately to the friend whom you're chatting with. That's all. Easy peezy. Not only is it convenient, but it's also really fun. Go download the app now and try it out for yourself! ;)

WeChat is available on:

...and the party began!

Love this lighting effect. Hashtag no filter.

What a pleasant surprise to bump into my girl Win Shian there!
She was part of the opening dance. Very cool performance!

The buffet food tasted so good because i was so hungry i could literally swallow a cow. There was also a free flow of drinks the entire night. WeChat really knows how to make us happy & fatty! :P

And what got everyone saying "awwww" were these cute little green WeChat cupcakes!
Never in my life have i seen such a flawless circle of cupcakes.
CHIAK!
Fibiee and i enjoying our dinner.
Ok, i have no idea why i kept putting my chin out like that.
It's probably to avoid letting you see my double (or sometimes, triple) chin.
With sis Careen, Fibiee & Win Shian :)

Ze satayz were so ze yummyz.

Some snapshots of the stage:

Quiz time with the host of the night - Rudy!

Sisterly love:

There's no better person for me to attend an event with other than my dear sister Careen. There's no fear of being #foreveralone or ending up standing at a corner facing the wall when i have my sister around. It's true when people say that somethings never change. No matter how old i become, the pride & security of having my "da-jie" around will always be in me.

Us at the WeChat photobooth :) Loved the photobooth!

We've pulled each other's hair before, yelled at each other like our house's on fire, boxed (uh-huh you heard me) each other on our backs, and scratch each other with our claws (most of the time i would be the victim because i'm not a 'long nails' kinda girl, but i'd have the upper hand when it comes to boxing and hair pulling because i have stronger arms and she has longer hair.)

And we bumped into other sisters too!

The TAN sisters :)

The WANGs and the TANs.
If you combine our surnames together, you'll get WANTANs.

HAHA! So punny.

Another photobooth shot.
With Tziaaa, sis Careen, Adele, Tzia-E & Fibiee.

Every guest was given a super comfy & adorable green WeChat plush toy!

With my sister Charity. You can just see her smile. It's that "I hope my sister will give this toy to me after taking this photo" smile. And true enough, immediately after this shot she asked me if i could give the plush toy to her. Being the great and sacrificial sister that i am, i gave it to her with much tears in my eyes.

The plush toy is too cute to be left un-shot.

Add me up on WeChat so we can start acting like TVB cops! And also to chat, of course ;) Hehe.
